The Girl With A Jewel In Her Eyes

Jean Simmons

Jewels on the outside
Make one feel the jewel on the inside.
That’s why people like them so much.
The juice of life is on the inside.
Once it is found, it spreads out in rings
Until the outside world is greener than an emerald.
The Girl with Jewels in her eyes
Peeks at you from under tables,
Smiles from behind trees.
Her face is brighter than the sun,
More colorful than flowers.
But one only catches glimpses
And cannot see her on this side of things.
Only one who has come through,
Sailed through the Hesperides,
Can see her completely.
